George and Andrew show single parent families have talent!
I'M not a great one for holding up celebrities as role models for our kids - but reckon Tony Parsons speaks some sense (even if some of it is patronising nonsense*) here.
I'm sick of reading that children from so-called 'broken homes' are hopeless cases - when they're not. I hope the mums who have scrimped and saved to give George Sampson and Andrew Johnston a chance to 'follow their dream' are as proud, as proud can be.
* Why should anyone be surprised that the children of a hairdresser or cleaner (The Cheeky Monkeys) should 'amount to' something? "Life has given them little"? I don't think so Tony - a mum's love and a work ethic are plenty to be going on with, I'd say.

It's so good to read someone say "I'm sick of reading that children from so-called 'broken homes' are hopeless cases". When my mum got divorced she was told her children would amount to nothing, yet all three of us are well educated professionals. Love is worth so much more than money.
